STEP VAN MOTOR IS COMING ALONG

 

I spent the last 9 1/2 hours outside in my garage, I got the busted bullet out, I pulled the oil pan off of it and found one spun rod barring. The crank is history, there's no fixing that crankshaft. I got started working on the new bullet. I got the front of it together all the way to the water pump. Man I miss my air compresser. One brand spankin new 10:1 4 bolt main bored 30 over 350 SBC, guess that makes it a 355 cid! I got a nice fat cam in it too, 540 lift 302 duration, it's 245 duration @ 50 degrees, with a torque curve from 2700 rpm to 6200 rpm, all this equates to about 430 + HP to pull the truck and trailer up and down the highway. Gas milage, well forget about it!!! Maybe 10 mpg ! Had the same combination in The Big Red Truck pulling the enclosed trailer and it got 8 mpg. We shall see in a few days how it goes.
